Just before the start of first test against India, New Zealand has to suffer a huge blow as their most experienced pacer Tim Southee has been ruled out of the three test match series.

Southee injured his left ankle during a training session and a scan revealed a grade two ligament tear. Southee will now return home but is expected to be available for the ODI series against India this October.

In the absence of Southee, a lot will now depend upon Trent Boult who will be leading the Kiwi bowling attack. Matt Henry has been called as the replacement for Southee. "Tim has been working hard in preparation for this tour, so he's understandably very disappointed to be ruled out of all three Tests." said Mike Hesson, New Zealand coach.

The first test between India and New Zealand is scheduled to start from September 22 in Kanpur.
