Former Indian captain Virat Kohli had tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from his Maldives vacation as per the reports. However, he is said to have recovered from the infection.

Kohli was on a vacation with his wife Anuska Sharma after he was rested for the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa.

Allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin had missed his flight to England after testing positive for COVID-19 a few days back.

India's tour of England in 2021 was ended prematurely for the same reason earlier. The tour was rescheduled after a number of COVID cases were seen in Indian squad.

India are currently leading the test series 2-1 with one last remaining in the series. India and England will also play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs after the test match.
