IPL Auction 2017 is all set to be held on 20th February at Bangalore. IPL 2017 player auction proposed to be held on 4th of February has been postponed to 20th February. The tournament on the other hand is scheduled to begin on April 5.

Each IPL franchise can have up to 27 players in its squad, with a maximum of nine overseas players. The purse for each team has been capped at INR 66 crore (approximately $10 million).

1. Delhi Daredevils:

They finished sixth in previous season. More or less, they have retained their core. Imran Tahir and Pawan Negi are their big releases. Pegi was bought for 8.5 crore in last year's auction.

2. Gujarat Lions

Gujarat topped the group stage of IPL 2016 but failed to lift the trophy in their first appearance. Dale Steyn is their big release and this decision isn't much surprise because of his injury. They have released several Indian players and might be looking to fulfill that in the upcoming auction.

3. Kings XI Punjab

Punjab released just four players: Mitchell Johnson, Rishi Dhawan, Kyle Abbott and Farhaan Behardien. Punjab had finished at the bottom of the table last year. The major part lacking in this side seems to be wicket taking senior bowlers. They are going to the auction with the highest purse amount and may utilize that to full extent.

4.Kolkata Knight Riders

A big blow for KKR would be the one year ban on allrounder Andre Russell. Their batting looks good but they would want to strengthen their death bowling. They have released 6 foreign players including 4 pacers.

5. Mumbai Indians

IPL 2016 was the first time since 2009 that Mumbai didn’t qualify for the playoffs. Corey Anderson and Marti Guptill are their biggest release. The squad looks balanced with variety of options, they will spend carefully on what they require as Mumbai is going to the auction with least budget.

6.Rising Pune Supergiants

Releasing Kevin Petersen was surprising from Pune Supergiants. A total of 11 players were released by Pune among whom 7 provided an option with the ball. This means, the team needs some bowling allrounders as the batting doesn't look that bad.

7.Royal Challengers Bangalore

Chris Joran and David Wiese are their major releases this year. They let go pacers perhaps because Mitchell Starc is available this year. The core team looks the same and they will be looking to improve their bowling department.

8.Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner and Mutafizur Rahman along with Ashish Nehra were the key players who helped Hyderabad win thier maiden IPL title last year. Yuvraj Singh along with last years heros will hold key for this team. Trent Boult is their biggest release. As one of only three teams with over Rs. 20 crores ahead of the auction, they certainly have plenty of cash to afford the best.
