Stokes hundred lifts England against West Indies

Earlier the day, England won the toss and elected to bat first. Ben Stokes top-scored with exactly 100 and England captain Joe Root made 59 on his Yorkshire home ground, although both batsmen were dropped in the slips on single figures. West Indies bowled well to restrict England to 258 as Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel picked up 4 wickets each. Jason Holder and Devendra Bishoo chipped in with a wicket each.

West Indies had to face 12 overs before the close of play in first day. James Anderson picked up the wicket of Kieran Powell thatleaves himseven short of 500 wickets in test cricket.
