Singapore Emerging Stars secure a place in the semi final of the ongoing 5th International Singapore Cricket Club T20 2017. They beat Melbourne Cricket Club in their second match before defeating Kowloon Cricket Club in their final Group B match at the Indian Association Ground in Singapore.

Singapore Emerging Stars won the tos and elected to bat first in a rain affected match which was reduced to 10 overs a side.Stars could manage 76 runs from 10 overs. Captain Chetan Suryawanshi was the top scorer for the team with 11 balls 21. Wilson McGillivary was the pick of the bowlers for Melbourne with the figures of 2/19.

With the match being reduced to 10 overs a side, Melbourne were set a revised target of 90 in 10 overs, but suffered a batting collapse to be bowled out for 60, falling 29 runs short. Anantha Krishna took three wickets for nine runs in eight balls to trigger the fall of wickets, while Nepal national team captain Paras Khadka bagged two wickets for six runs to earn the man of the match award.

In their last group match, Singapore Emerging Stars defeated Kowloon Cricket Club. Kowloon won the toss and invited Stars to bat first. Stars put on 190 runs in their first innings. Man of the Match Kshitij Shinde blasted 73 runs from 31 balls for the Stars while opener Chaminda Ruwan supported him with his 27 ball 42. Suhaib Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Kowloon Cricket Club as he finished with the figures of 3/20.

In reply, KCC lost wickets at regular intervals and could not pick up the pace of their run chase, limping to 128/9 when the overs ran out. Skipper Waqas Barkat top scored with 27 runs in 18 balls while Pramodh Raja bowled well for his figures of3/18.

The win takes Singapore Emerging Stars to second spot in the Group behind Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) who won all three of their matches. They are set to face Group A toppers Madras while SSC will take on newcomers SCG XI.
