Nepal register historic win over Scotland

Opener Aasif Sheikh and fast bowler's splendid performance helped Nepal to a historic victory over Scotland. Nepal made history defeating Scotland by 5 wickets in the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular ODI series.
Nepal has made history by defeating Scotland for the first time in its cricket history. Earlier, Nepal had not beaten Scotland in both ODI and T20I. Chasing a target of 145 runs for victory, Nepal reached the target losing 5 wickets in 25.1 overs.
With this victory, Nepal has climbed to the fifth position in the table. Young opener Aasif Sheikh was the top scorer for Nepal with 71 runs in 62 balls with 10 fours and a six. Aasif took 48 balls to complete fourth half-century of his ODI career.
Rohit Poudel remained unbeaten on 34 off 31 balls with five boundaries. Rohit finished the game with a winning four to Hamza Tahir. Dipendra Singh Airee was out for 3 and Aarif Sheikh for 1.
Aasif and Kushal Bhurtel shared 47 runs in 7.2 overs for the first wicket. Kushal got out for 27 runs off 28 balls with 4 fours. Kushal was caught by wicketkeeper Matthew Cross off Gavin Main. Gavin Maine, who scored a half-century for Scotland in the first innings, picked up 3 wickets.
Earlier, Scotland batted first after losing the toss at Glasgow and were all out for 144 runs from 42.5 overs. Hamza Tahir and Gavin Main shared 49 runs for the final wicket to guide Scotland to a respectable total from a struggling position of 95-9.
Gavin remained unbeaten on 64 off 59 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. This is his first half century. Tahir remained unbeaten on 7 runs off 43 balls. Fast bowler Sompal Kami dismissed opener Matthew Cross for 2 off the last ball of the second over off wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh.
Karan KC caught Calum MacLeod for 13 runs in the last ball of the seventh over. He hit 2 fours from 21 balls. Shortly after, Kyle Coetzer was caught by Bhurtel off Sompal in the first ball of the next over and Scotland were reduced to 22-3.
George Munsey was caught by Kushal Bhurtel for 4 runs off Aadil Ansari. Scotland were in a 33-5 crisis after captain Richie Berrington was out after scoring 3 runs.
Aadil Ansari dismissed Michael Leask for 4 and Safyaan Sharif for 16. Sompal Kami took 3 wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs for Nepal.
Aadil Ansari took 3 wickets for 31 runs with 1 maiden in 10 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets with 35 runs in 10 overs with 1 maiden. Dipendra Singh Airee and Karan KC shared a wicket each.
Nepal had lost the first match by 40 runs to Namibia. Nepal will now play Namibia on Saturday and Scotland on Sunday. With this victory, Nepal has climbed to the fifth position with 17 points.
