Mumbai defeat defending champions Hyderabad

Mumbai Indians defeated the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad to register their second win in the Vivo IPL 2017.Nitish Rana’s 45 runs helped Mumbai Indians chase down the total of 159 runs set by Sunrisers Hyderabad with four wickets to spare at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Choosing to field on winning the toss, Mumbai restricted SRH to 158/8 in 20 overs and then achieved the target in 18.4 overs losing six wickets along the way.Sunrisers were off to a steady start with skipper David Warner (49) and Shikhar Dhawan (48) putting on 81 runs before the Australian fell one short of his half century.Jasprit Bumrah (3-24) and Harbhajan Singh (2-23) were the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai.

Nitish Rana played a crucial role for Mumbai with a 36-ball 45 which included three boundaries and two sixes. He produced a 48-run partnership along with Krunal Pandya which came off 21 balls. Pandya scored 37 runs off 20 deliveries which included three boundaries and an equal number of sixes.With 47 runs still needed from the final six overs, it was Krunal who provided the much-needed impetus to the innings, striking a six in each of the next three overs, on top of multiple boundaries.

While Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-21) dismissed Krunal and Rana with the first and last deliveries of his 18th over, the damage was already done, and Mumbai ultimately got home with eight balls to spare.
