Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku has returned to Italian club Inter Milan a year after leaving English club Chelsea. He is back on loan for one season.
Chelsea had signed the 29-year-old Lukaku last summer for a club-record of 97.5 million pound. However, Lukaku later said that he was unhappy with Chelsea and wanted to return to the Italian club.
Inter has agreed to pay a loan of around 80 million euros for Lukaku. Belgian forward Lukaku scored 15 goals in all competitions last season. He had to struggle a lot to be the first choice.
As per the reports, Lukaku is has agreed to cut his fees for returning to Inter. The club's financial situation made it unlikely that Inter would buy him. Lukaku agreed to return to Inter after meeting with Inter chairman Steven Zhang last year. Lukaku then said in a video on Inter's Twitter page, "I'm back, baby. I'm very happy."
Lukaku had scored a total of 15 goals for Chelsea last season. He also scored eight goals in 26 Premier Leagues. His performance didn't meet the expectations at Chelsea.
Inter were two points behind rivals AC Milan in last year's Serie A to finish at second position. Inter are also in talks with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala. Dybala, a 28-year-old Argentine forward, will be a free agent later this month.
