South Africa won the toss and invited India to bat first. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan put on a 97 runs stand for the first wicket. Gaikwad made 57 runs off 35 balls while Kishan scored a 35 ball 54. Hardik Pandya provided the finishing touch to the Indian innings with a quickfire 31 from 21 balls which included 4 fours and guided India to 179/5 from 20 overs.
