India bounce back with Iyer-Pujara century stand

With the century partnership of veteran player Cheteshwar Pujara and young batsman Shreyas Iyer, India made a comeback against home team Bangladesh in the first Test match. After winning the toss at the Zahoor Ahmed Chaudhary Stadium, India started batting first and scored 278 runs after losing 6 wickets in 90 overs at the end of the first day.

India's young batsman Shreyas Iyer is unbeaten on 82 runs off 169 balls with 10 fours. Shreyas Iyer, who is playing the sixth Test match of his career, will aim to score a century on the second day.

Cheteshwar Pujara hit 11 fours in 203 balls and was bowled for 90 runs towards the end of the day. With 6 overs remaining in the first day's match, Pujara was bowled by spinner Taijul Islam.

Leading batsman Virat Kohli was dismissed lbw for just one run by Taijul. Rishabh Pant was bowled for 46 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. On the last ball of the day, Mehdi Hasan Miraj dismissed Axar Patel lbw for 14 runs. Bangladesh's Taijul Islam has taken three wickets, Mehidi Hasan Miraj two and Khaled Ahmed one.

Australia are at the top of ICC World Test Championship with 8 wins from 12 matches. South Africa is second with 6 wins from 10 matches. India is fourth with 6 wins from 12 matches. The top two teams will meet in the finals of the World Test Championship with 9 countries participating.
