India beat Pakistan by 124 runs

India registered a comprehensive victory against the arch-rivals Pakistan in their first game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Pakistan was outplayed in all three departments of the game as India defeated Pakistan by 124 runs (DL Method).

Having lost the toss and put into bat first, India posted a challenging total of 319/3 from 48 overs. Rohit Sharma (91) and Shikhar Dhawan (68) were brilliant at the top. Skipper Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 81 while Man of the Match Yuvraj Singh blasted 32 ball 53 with 8 fours and a six. Hardik Pandya hit 3 consecutive sixes in the last overs of Indian innings to provide the finishing flourish. Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan took 2 wickets each for Pakistan.

Pakistan in reply, never really got going. Azhar Ali was the top scorer for them with 65 ball 50. Mohammad Hafeez scored 33 runs while no other batsmen could contribute significantly as Pakistan were bowled out for 164 runs in 33.4 overs. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India as he finished with the figures of 3-30. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja shared 2 wickets each while Bhuvneswor Kumar picked up a wicket.
