ICC approves CAN's NPL T20 League
July 12, 2022 | SportsGuff Team 1.6K ReadsThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the domestic franchise Nepal T-20 League, which is being organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for the first time. CAN said in a statement on Tuesday that it had been approved by the ICC.
The first season of NPL T-20 will be held in Kathmandu from September 24 to October 22 (September 8 to November 5).
CAN has sold all rights to the league to Indian company Seven Three Sports. Seven Three Sports has agreed to give Rs. 41.25 million annually to CAN for the project rights.
Playing on the basis of double round league, six franchise teams will participate in this competition in the first year. The names of the teams will be Biratnagar, Janakpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini or Bhairahawa and Far Western.
The number of participating teams will be increased from next year. In this league, the players in category 'A' will get at least Rs 1.5 million, those in category 'B' will get Rs 1 million and players in category 'C' will get Rs 500,000.
