England take a 1-0 lead in 3 match series

England started off the T20 series against India with a win at Green Park, Kanpur on Thursday. England defeated India in the first T20 by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series.

England won the toss and invited India to bat first. The Indian batting didn't looked impressive enough to post a challenging total on the board. The skipper Virat Kohli opened the innings with KL Rahul. Rahul got out for 8 while Virat scored 29 runs.

The comeback man Suresh Raina scored 34 runs off 23 balls with 4 fours and a six. That partnership between Raina and Dhoni made sure that India get to 147/7 in 20 overs. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 36 runs. No other batsmen got to a double digit score except Yuvraj who scored 12 runs. Moeen Ali picked up 2 wickets while Mills, Jordan, Plunkett and Stokes shared a wicket each.

In reply, England got a quick start with Roy 19(11) and Sam Billings 22(10). Joe Root remained notout on a run a ball 46 while the skipper Eoin Morgan got to his half century with one four and 4 sixes.

The Indian pacers were expensive as Nehra conceded 31 runs in 3 overs with an economy of 10.3 while Bumrah had figures of 26-0 in 3.1 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 27-2 in his quota of 4 overs.

Moeen Ali was judged Man of the Match for his contribution with bowl.
