India is hosting South Africa for a 5 match T20I series starting on Thursday at Delhi's Arjun Jaitley Stadium.

India have given rest to some of their trump cards including former skipper Virat Kohli, current skipper Rohit Sharma and fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

The major reason for this break is certainly the upcoming T20 world cup. The decision to rest Kohli, Rohit and Bumrah is very crucial to India's chances in the upcoming T20 world cup. India will obviously want these gun players to be fit and at their best if they are to fancy the chances of winning the title. 

These players have had a significant workload off late and the decision to rest them makes sense too.

If you look at the recently concluded Indian Premier League, none of these players were amongst standout performers. Their performances was below par at least in the first half of the tournament.
