CAN Crisis: ICC appoints co-ordinators for advisory committee

The advisory committee formed by ICC to solve ongoing crisis in Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has agreed to start its works with an aim to held the new election of CAN within Ashadh next year.ICC has addressed the unsatisfied group of Nepali side, the members of the committee has agreed to begin its works. ICC sent its representatives to held a meeting with the committee who expressed its disagreement on the working way of committee.


Basanta Chaudhary and Binay Raj Pandey have been appointed as the co-ordinators of the advisory committee and Pawan Agrawal has been appointed as the member secretary of the committee. Chaudhary has been given the responsibility to co-ordinate with Legal and Government affairs whereas Pandey has been given responsibility to make act of the committee and make plans for cricket structure. Member Secretary Agrawal has been handed rights to call the meeting of committee.


Advisory Committee cannot held cricket activities:

ICC has tried to address the wants of unsatisfied committee by ammending the terms where Nepalese side expressed disagreement in removing the members of the committee in case of their failure.The committee also raised its voice to held cricket activities itself but ICC has disagreed to do so. ICC has not given rights to held cricket activites since CAN is still under suspension. ICC has suggested to make the act and move to election process quickly. Committee should held the election within June 27, 2017. ICC has been managing Nepali side in international tournaments right now and has appointed former CEO of CAN Bhawana Ghimire as its local representative.


Board or Association?

Nepal government has expressed its desire to make a cricket board instead of committee. There has also been an agreement with CEO of ICC to form a cricket board. ICC has asked the committee to decide on whether to form a board or association by helding talks with National Sports Council and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
