Australia on top after day one

It was a brillant start for the Aussies with the return of Mitchell Starc striking of the very first over removing SC Cook for a duck.The bowling combination of Starc and Hazlewood was perfect for the Aussies as they took 7 wickets in combine and they were the key factor in destroying the Proteas batting order.

On batting first,South Africa could not put on a big total as they were all out for 242 runs.Q de Kock was the top scorer for the Proteas scoring 84 runs.Along with Kock,T Bavuma made 51 runs and the former put on a partnership of 71 runs which helped the Proteas to reached 242 runs.Starc was excellent in his return taking 4 wickets,along with him JR Hazlewood took 3 wickets while lyon took 2 wickets and Siddle managed to take a wicket.In reply,Australia started off well with David Warner attacking South African bowlers from the beginning hitting them all over for boundaries.It was a Test match but the way Warner played made it looked like a T20 match.Warner made 73 runs from just 62 balls at the strike rate of 117.74.Australia ended the day on good note as they made 105 runs for no loss,with Warner and SE Marsh batting on 73 runs and 29 runs.
