Afghanistan Series Clean Sweep Against Ireland

On 12th March, the 3rd T20I between Afghanistan and Ireland has been played at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground in Greater Noida. Though Afghanistan had already won the 3 match series by 2-0. Afghanistan finishes the series in a style with a clean sweep against Ireland after winning their third and final T20I cricket match by 28 runs. Afghanistan won the series by 3-0 on sunday.

The brilliant innings first by opener Mohammad Shahzad of 72 runs of just 43 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes and later by the all-rounder batsman Mohammad Nabi who roared and played an unbelievable innings of 89 runs of just 30 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes. The later cameo by Mohammad Nabi helped Afghanistan posted a total of 233/8 in 20 overs.

For Ireland, Kevin O’Brien scalped 4/45 and Jacob Mulder took 2 wickets for 32.

Ireland chasing the big total of 234 runs in the 2nd innings, Ireland started the match on a better side and openers Paul Stirling scored 49 runs of 20 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes and Stuart Thompson scored 43 runs of just 18 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. The duo had a partnership of 65 runs in 4.2 overs for the 1st wicket. But the magnitude of the target was big and Ireland were bowled out for 205 in the 20 overs.

Ireland wicketkeeper-batsman Gary Wilson scored 59 runs of 34 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes kept the hope alive till the 18.2 overs.

For Afghanistan, Hamza took 2/39 and Karim Janat took 2/34 and the star bowler Rashid Khan took 3/28.
