Faf Du Plesis who scored a century in the 1st innings played a notout 112 runs of just 234 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes & in 2nd innings scoring 6 runs of 28 balls jumped from 33rd to 24th in the Test Batsmen's Rankings table.

After picking up 8 wickets for 99 runs against the Newzealand and a 204 runs comfortable win at Centurion, the South African pacer Dale Steyn climbed the No. 1 spot in ICC Test Bowler's Rankings table for the first time since December 2015 overtaking R Ashwin (India) and James Anderson (England).

As South Africa win the series 1-0 and moved to the 5th place from 7th in the ICC Test Team Rankings table. Along with Steyn the other two South African pacers Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada climbed too in the table of ICC Test Bowler's Rankings from 13th place to 11th and 30th to 27th respectively.
