Nepal lose to Canada following a poor batting

Nepal suffered a humiliating 83-run defeat to Canada in the second ODI practice match following a poor batting display. Canada also the 2 match practice series 1-0.
Chasing a mediocre target of 189 for victory, Nepal were all out for 105 in 39.2 overs. Opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for 1 off 17 balls and Pawan Sararf for 14 off 27 balls. Dev Khanal was dismissed for 26 off 49 balls with two boundaries. Rohit Paudel made 6 while Basir Ahmed made 13 runs for Nepal. Binod Bhandari and Aadil Ansari made 13 runs each.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the Maple Leaf Cricket Ground in King City, Canada lost nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs and put on 188 runs on the board.
Shreyas Mova and Amar Khalid put on an unbeaten 70 for the final wicket to recover the innings that was once struggling at 118-9 in 38 overs. Shreyas remained unbeaten on 50 off 59 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Khalid remained unbeaten on 30 off 36 balls with three fours and one six. Canada's opener Aaron Johnson top-scored with 44 off 55 balls with eight fours. Other opener Ryan Khan Pathan was dismissed for 1 off the last ball of the first over. Fast bowler Kishor Mahato bowled Pathan. Adil Ansari bowled Bhupendra in the last ball of the tenth over. Bhupendra Singh was dismissed for 10 off 28 balls with one four. Bhupendra and Aaron shared 39 runs for the second wicket.
Canada had rested some of its key players in the game. Captain Navneet Dhaliwal, Australian Matthew Spores, Hamza Tariq, Kalim Sana and other players were not available for this match.
Aaron was bowled out for lbw in the 17th over by Sandeep. Spinner Basir Ahmed caught Harsh Thacker off wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari in the fourth ball of the 20th over to restrict Canada to 72-4. Dipendra Singh Airee picked up two wickets. Dipendra bowled captain Saad bin Jaffer for 3 and Arman Kapoor for 10 in the fifth ball of the 31st over.
Nepali captain Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets conceeding 31 runs in 10 overs including 2 maidens. Dipendra Singh Airee finished with the figures of 2-33 from 9 overs which included 1 maiden over. Basir Ahmed, Adil Ansari and Karan KC shared a wicket each.

Nepal will now go to Scotland. There will be a triangular ODI series between Nepal, Scotland and Namibia. Nepal is in the fifth position in ICC World Cup League 2 with 15 points. Nepal has 7 wins, 8 losses and 1 tie from 16 games.
Nepal has to finish in the top three to play in the World Cup global selection. Failing to do so, Nepal will have to play in the playoffs. Finishing on top two of the playoffs, a spot in the global selection will be assured. To preserve ODI recognition,Nepal has to finish in the top five in the table.
