When we talk about Prime Minister Cup and other domestic competition played between 7 provincal team and 3 departmental team, we often see the departmental side having upper hand against the provincal team. It is so rare to find a provincal team winning against these departmental team.

We were all set to witness Gandaki Provinve upseting APF Club in this year's PM Cup but just got short of 1 run as the match got ended in a tie. Chasing a small target of 116, Gandaki looked a bit tensed as they lost their opeinig batter Samir Kandel just for 3 runs.Soon after he got dismissed wicket-keeper batter Bidhan Shrestha too made his way without troubling the scorers.

Young batter Arjun Kumal and Avishek Basnet had a good partnership and were looking positive to chase the target but Kishor Mahato broke the partnership. After the dismissal of Arjun and Avishek, Gandaki never looked good to chase the target. Captain Bipin Khatri and all-rounder Kamal Pariyar tried to bring the team in the game but it never really happened.

In the bowling department, Kishor Mahato bagged 4 wickets and 2 each for Bhuwan Karki but it was Mousom Dhakal who stole the show by picking 4 important wickets. Captain Sharad and Amar Routela were wicket-less. Mousom Dhakal was well adjusted as player of the match for his great spell of bowling.

Earlier in the first inninigs, Team APF just managed to score 115 runs. Courtesy brilliant opening spell from Amrit Gurung and captain Bipin Khatri. The opening batters were dismissed early but there was a nice partnership going around with the middle-order. Every middle-order batter got a nice start but were not able to score big. Puran BK scored 23 runs, while Lokesh Bam and Sundeep Jora scored 22 each. All-rounder Bhuwan Karki batted beautifully and scored 24 runs but didn't get support from the other end.

Gandaki Province came into this game with high confidence. They had won their both games against Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province while batting first. Whereas, APF too were high on confidence as they too won both their previous matches, first one against strong Tribhuwan Army Club and Sudurpaschim Province.

However, it was not the first time we were about to see a upset in PM Cup. Previously, Bagmati stunned Nepal Police Club in the 2021 edition of Prime Minister Cup.
