Tons from the bat of opener Murali Vijay and skipper Virat Kohli has placed India on top at the end of day 1 in Delhi test.India finished on 371/4 after having won the toss and electing to bat first.

Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli shared a 283-run stand for third wicket before Vijay was stumped toLakshan Sandakan on 155 runs. Vijay's innings of 155 runs included 13 fours in it. Cheteswar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan were out for 23 runs each while Indian skipper once again showed his class to bring up his 20th test century.

During his innings, Virat became the fourth-fastest Indian to reach 5000 runs in Tests. Kohli became the 11th Indian batsman to achieve the milestone and the fourth fastest in terms of innings behind Sunil Gavaskar (95), Virender Sehwag (99) and Sachin Tendulkar (103). Kohli, playing his 63rd Test took 105 innings to cross the 5000-run mark.

Virat and Rohit Sharma are the notout batsmen for India who will look to pile up huge total on the board in second day of the match.
