6 years wait is not over for Pakistan

It has been an issue since 2009 incidentthat Pakistan is not hosting any of the ICC matches against any of the high ranking nations but managed to invite nations that are lower in the rankings of ICC like Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Kenya. On4 March2009 near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan was about to play against Sri Lanka for the 3rd day of 2nd Test and the bus carrying the Sri Lankans players was attacked by the 12 gunmen. 6 Sri Lankan players were injured and 6 Pakistani policemen along with 2 civilians killed. In 2016, 3 of the terrorist were killed in the police raid in Lahore that were involved in 2009 incident.

Pakistan have been playing all their matches away from home since last 6 years. Pakistan played an outstanding consistent cricket in last few years which gained them the No. 1 status in the Test Team Rankings under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-haq.

Dave Richardson the ICC Chief Executive clearly said, "Pakistan needs to solve the security issue soon to host the match in their country." He further added, "People in Pakistan have a lot of passion for the cricket and I always enjoy visiting Pakistan but security issue will decide when will Pakistan return to host the International matches and its exceptional achievement for Pakistan to play for 6 long years outside their country."
