A tall, swing bowler who can also contribute with the bat in the lower order, Zak Foulkes was fast-tracked into New Zealand's T20I side in 2024 after he enjoyed a breakout Super Smash season in 2022-23. Foulkes emerged as Canterbury's highest wicket-taker, with 12 strikes in seven games at an economy rate of 7.36, in his side's run to the final that season.
With Will Williams ending his Canterbury career to play county cricket in the UK, and Matt Henry often on national duty, Foulkes fronted up to bowl the tough overs and emerged as an unlikely match-winner for his domestic side.
Foulkes has some exposure outside of New Zealand too, having had a stint with Birmingham Bears in the 2024 Vitality Blast in the UK.
