The youngest of the three Masakadza brothers to play international cricket for Zimbabwe - the others being Hamilton and Shingirai - Wellington Masakadza is a left-arm orthodox spinner and a useful lower middle-order batter. Masakadza first turned out for Zimbabwe at the 2012 Under-19 World Cup where he played three games and picked three wickets while scoring 24 runs.
It took him close to a year and a half to make his first-class debut for Mountaineers in the 2013-14 domestic season where he picked 5 for 63 in his very first outing against Matabeleland Tuskers. He played five games in his debut season and picked 15 wickets. In September 2014, Masakadza toured Bangladesh with the Zimbabwe A team and picked 6 for 63 in the first of the two four-day games.
Masakadza was subsequently called up to the senior team for the Bangladesh Tests in October 2014 but did not get a game. For the 2014-15 Logan Cup season, Masakadza switched to Mashonaland Eagles.
Masakadza made his ODI debut in October 2015 against Ireland and in just his fourth game, blew away Afghanistan with figures of 4 for 21. He made his T20I debut against Afghanistan in 2015 but took three more years to get his maiden Test cap, which he got against Bangladesh in Sylhet in 2018.
