A middle order batter and a decent offspinner, Tony Munyonga broke into the Zimbabwe national side less than two years after making his first-class debut. He first turned out for Rising Stars in the 2017-18 Logan Cup and scored a half-century in just his second game against Mashonaland Eagles.
Munyonga subsequently made his List A debut in the Pro50 Championship in April 2018. In what was an impressive debut season, he scored a half-century in his first game and ended the tournament with 159 runs and 11 wickets in nine matches. He moved to Eagles ahead of the 2018-19 domestic season and stayed with them for two seasons.
Munyonga received his maiden Zimbabwe call-up in April 2019 for their ODI series against UAE at home but did not get a game. He was then picked for the Bangladesh T20I tri-series also featuring Afghanistan in September 2019 where he made his international debut. He once again switched base turning out for Mountaineers in the 2020-21 domestic season. In August 2022, he made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in Harare.
The 2023-24 season was a profitable one for Munyonga. He scored 360 runs in just five innings which included a career-best 237 against Eagles.
